In January of 2025, Âé¶¹´«Ã½A Chancellor Sean Parnell announced his intent to retire at the end of the spring 2025 semester. Âé¶¹´«Ã½ President Pat Pitney has named an interim chancellor to lead Âé¶¹´«Ã½A upon Chancellor Parnell's retirement, and convened a search committee to guide the search for Âé¶¹´«Ã½A's next permanent Chancellor.

Âé¶¹´«Ã½ President Pitney Announces Âé¶¹´«Ã½A Chancellor Finalists

President Pat Pitney announced that she has selected four finalists in the search for the next Chancellor of Âé¶¹´«Ã½A. Each finalist will visit the Anchorage campus between September 8 and September 18, 2025, engaging with the Âé¶¹´«Ã½A community through two days of meetings, tours and open forum events.

Longtime Âé¶¹´«Ã½F leader Ali Knabe has been appointed to serve as interim chief of staff. Knabe, who currently serves as associate vice chancellor for student affairs, will start her new position on Monday, Aug. 25.
