Northrim Bank makes a major investment in Âé¶¹´«Ã½'s three universities

A major, long-time supporter of the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ system, Northrim Bank, has gifted $259,500 to fund Âé¶¹´«Ã½ initiatives that advance research about Alaska's economy and fiscal policy, expand business education and build entrepreneurship capacity. Northrim's donation also includes funding to five community campuses where Northrim employees live and work.

For Alaska, the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ system's first comprehensive philanthropic campaign, is close to achieving its $200 million goal. We are grateful to each of the more than 18,000 donors who have propelled us forward with their generous contributions. The campaign officially ends in June 2024 making it likely that we will exceed our goal.

Âé¶¹´«Ã½ FY23 budget focuses on students, affordable education and key economic initiatives

During its first in-person meeting in more than two years, the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Board of Regents adopted a FY23 spending plan that aligns with the university's key goals, funds student scholarships and high-quality education programs, improves student-facing IT systems, supports key economic growth initiatives including Arctic research, and increases capacity for high-demand workforce and career training.

On June 1, The Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Foundation hosted the first-ever reunion bringing current and former members of its board of directors and current and former members of the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Board of Regents together for an evening that rekindled connections and celebrated the success of the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ system and foundation.

Conference Committee approves critical investments for Âé¶¹´«Ã½ system in the FY23 budget

As the Legislature enters its final official day of session, the outlook is positive for the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ system. The operating and capital budgets moved from conference committee to the House and Senate for approval before midnight.

Âé¶¹´«Ã½F student receives 2022 Angus Gavin Memorial Migratory Bird Research Grant

Annie Maliguine, a master's student in marine biology at the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Fairbanks, is the recipient of the 2022 Angus Gavin Memorial Migratory Bird Research Grant. Her work is focused on understanding how forage habitat conditions for Steller's eiders may have changed in the last two decades at Izembek Lagoon.
