President Pitney Appoints Dr. Aparna Palmer as Âé¶¹´«Ã½S Chancellor

Âé¶¹´«Ã½ President Pat Pitney announced that she has selected Aparna Dileep-Nageswaran Palmer, Ph.D., to serve as the next chancellor of the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Southeast. Dr. Palmer succeeds Âé¶¹´«Ã½S Chancellor Karen Carey, who is retiring on June 30, 2023.

In Remembrance of Regent Darroll R. Hargraves

It is with deep sadness that the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ announces the passing of Regent Darroll R. Hargraves on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, after a period of illness, surrounded by family. Regent Hargraves served on the Board of Regents since 2019, and was a long-time, dedicated public servant to the people of Alaska.

President Pitney delivers third "State of the University" Address

Âé¶¹´«Ã½ President Pat Pitney delivered her third "State of the University" Address on Tuesday, February 21, during the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce's weekly business luncheon. A video recording and copy of the speech can be found on the President's State of the University website.

Short-term accomplishments, long-term progress highlighted at February Regents Meeting

The Board of Regents heard how the university plays a major role in Alaska's current economy and future capacity for growth. The Regents heard updates on the System's role as an economic driver, and further refined Goals and Measures to set the system up for future success and growth including a focus on Âé¶¹´«Ã½F becoming a tier 1 research university, an emphasis on growing enrollment across the system and developing a skilled workforce for Alaska's industries.

Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Board of Regents approves the System Office Mission Statement
March 03, 2023
The Board of Regents formally approved a mission statement for the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ System Office during its February 24 meeting. The final language reflects revisions requested by members of the board at its November meeting, and will be added to Regents' policy Chapter 01.01- Mission.

Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Giving Day sets new record

The Âé¶¹´«Ã½ system, including Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Anchorage, Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Fairbanks and Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Southeast, wrapped up the most successful Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Giving Day in its history, raising over $1.3 million in 49 hours.
