Broadening Participation in STEM
The fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) are often unwelcoming environments for people who come from underrepresented groups or backgrounds.
Within the Âé¶¹´«Ã½, many Alaska Native students come from isolated villages, where they grow up as observers of science processes through their participation in traditional Indigenous lifestyles tied to the land. Âé¶¹´«Ã½ seeks to serve them through programs that support them in STEM fields, enabling these students to further their formal science education while contributing valuable place-based knowledge.
Interface of Change fosters Alaska Native participation and success in STEM by expanding and enhancing offerings from two programs, the (RAHI) and the (ANSEP).
