Interface of Change Annual Community Participation Workshops
Â鶹´«Ã½A epidemiologist Micah Hahn, UW public health and climate change researcher Cat Hartwell, and Copper River Watershed Project board of directors member Lishaw Lincoln discussing Indigenous health indicators in a previous project, the EPA JUSTICE-HIA Just Solutions To Impacts of Climate Exposures for Health in Alaska. Hahn co-leads Annual Community Participation Workshops with anthropologist Davin Holen for the Alaska EPSCoR Interface of Change project. Together with fellow Interface of Change researchers, they will with work with communities to determine if changes to access, harvest, cultivation, and use of marine resources are influencing the health and social, cultural, and economic well-being of rural coastal communities, and how is access and use affected by environmental change.
In February and March, Interface of Change researchers are visiting Cordova, Seldovia,
Â鶹´«Ã½r, Haines, and Klukwan for our Annual Community Participation Workshops.
The Interface of Change project is founded upon the goal of producing science that
is relevant and useful to Alaskans living in coastal communities around the Gulf of
Alaska.
Our Annual Community Participation Workshops are meant to invite community members
to connect with our research team and offer perspective and feedback on the project.
The goals of the workshops will be to:
- Build collaborations
- Identify environmental stressors & potential adaptation solutions
- Identify locally-relevant research questions
